Frequently Asked Questions

Are your products really handmade?
Yes, all our products are handmade, one item at a time.

What makes your products eco friendly?
We use organic and natural ingredients and you can compost our containers. We use as many local sources as possible, including herbs from outside our home studio.

What is the difference between commercial soap and your soap? We love this question.

Here is Dove's ingredient list:

Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate or Sodium Palmitate, Sodium Stearate, Water, Sodium Isethionate, Lauric Acid, Sodium C14-C16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance, Sodium Cholride, Dipropylene Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Blue 1, Red 33, Titanium Dioxide.

Here is Truly-Life's ingredient list:

Vegetable Shortening, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Distilled Water, Coconut Butter, Essential Oil.

Why is it different?

Animal fats are cheap but can clog pores. Chemicals hardeners will make the soap last longer but have odors which require high levels of fragrance to mask the odor. Chemicals are required to bleach or color the soap all those crazy colors like bright white, blue, green, and purple.

All of these chemicals strip the skin of natural oils and pollute your skin and the environment at the manufacturing facilities as well as the water treatment plants after soap use.

If you want purple soap with a really strong smell - we are not the company for you.

Why is everything in a solid form?

Liquid based products are often 70% water. Water adds weight to a product and to the shipping costs of that product. Liquid products also require a glass or plastic container. Not everyone will recycle those containers. We have tried to make our process and products as green as possible, in packaging you can compost.

Truly-Life does not test with animals or use animal ingredients. We do use beeswax in our lotion, perfume, and lip balm.

What can I do to live more GREEN?
Consider some of these easy steps.

What if I do not like my product?
Your feedback is crucial to help us improve our small business and products. We will replace the product or refund your money to make sure you are happy.

Since 2008 we have had four items returned:
1. Bar of soap - it had the wrong label on it.
2. Bar of soap - it lost its scent after three years.
3. Lip balm - not in a plastic tube, paper tube "looked ugly".
4. Baby shower favors - the party was cancelled.
